Sixteen, a new card game published by Alpine Games, has added another award to its portfolio. Specifically, it's a 2007 National Parenting Publications Awards (NAPPA) Honors Winner. Along with awards and recognition from Dr. Toy, Major Fun, Creative Child Magazine, and the Family Review Center, Sixteen is one of the most decorated new games on the market.
Kris Cox, President of Alpine Games, is not surprised. He cites the word-of-mouth marketing that is happening as evidence that Sixteen will be here for the long haul. "We have no control over this publicity, but we certainly welcome it!" he said. "Customers continue to tell us that this is one of the most engaging and creative card games they've played in years. Adults love it because of its quality play action, and parents love it because of the cognitive stimulation it provides--especially in math and logic skills. Kids love it just because it's fun."
Sixteen is recommended for ages 8 and older, and is packaged with easy instructions for two players. Additionally, instructions with a four-player variation are now posted on the game's official website. Playing Sixteen involves counting, matching, and forming sets while simultaneously working to block your opponent from doing the same.
